MQT — McAulay-Quatieri Transformer

Macintosh application for spectral transformations of sound (1993)

A Macintosh application for spectral transformations of sound based on the McAulay-Quatieri sinusoidal representation. MQT performs transformations on MQ analysis data created by the Lemur analysis/synthesis program. The McAulay-Quatieri sinusoidal representation extracts frequency spectra as amplitude peaks, providing a flexible and perceptually intuitive format for frequency domain transformations.

Transformations include cross synthesis, reharmonization, time-stretching, track index offset, harmonic ratio abstraction, and conversion to MIDI and Csound score formats.

Developed as the author’s Master of Arts thesis in Electro-Acoustic Music at Dartmouth College, 1993.
