Electromagnetic Steel Disk

A sound sculpture

A steel disk is mounted on a wall and excited by a hand-wound electromagnet positioned behind it. A piezoelectric microphone picks up the vibrations of the disk and feeds the signal back to the electromagnet, creating a continuously evolving feedback loop. The disk produces sound through its own resonance.
